Our family has cooked with a cast iron skillet for years. Of all the skillets we own, this is my favorite skillet to use. My only complaint is when it comes to cleaning it. The skillet would take forever to scrub with water so I would get frustrated and add soap.
Here is a simple method I discovered to clean my skillet. In no time your skillet is clean and ready for the next use. All you need is kosher salt.
STEP 1:
Wipe out any excess grease or food with a paper towel.
STEP 2:
Pour around 2 TBSP of kosher salt into your pan. Rub salt into pan with your hand or a rag until all food is removed from the bottom and sides. Rinse thoroughly with water.
STEP 3:
Place pan on top of oven and add a little heat to dry.
